Monitoring, evaluation & learning

I have significant experience in designing, monitoring, reviewing, evaluating and supporting learning from complex peace and security programmes. This ranges from reviewing and evaluating small projects to larger complex programmes, country portfolios and national/transnational strategies. From 2008 to 2010 I led a two year Conflict-Sensitivity Assessment of EU programmes in Sri Lanka, influencing the future EU programme and leading to the publication of conflict sensitivity guidelines for EU relief, development and peacebuilding partners. As Team Leader - Asia, at Saferworld from 2007 to 2010, I designed, managed, monitored and adjusted Saferworld’s peace, community security and police reform programming in Sri Lanka and Nepal. As Manager/Coordinator of Saferworld and partners’ Helpdesk on Human Security and Humanitarian Action for Sida between June 2013- 2016, I conducted and/or managed the delivery of numerous conflict analyses, conflict sensitivity assessments, tailored research, stakeholder mapping, project assessments and strategic evaluations – for example helping to review country portfolios, and to reflect on pan-African PVE efforts and develop guidelines and workshops for officials in response. At Saferworld, I also gained several years’ hands-on experience in ‘outcome harvesting’ methods as the organisation pioneered approaches now widely adopted across the sector. I have also led mid-term reviews or evaluations for Dutch government partners including the Dutch Knowledge Platform on Security and Rule of Law and the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF).
